Treatment

Location:

To the left you can see the different locations we are decided to film our music video at. We decided on these locations from working as a group discussing our ideas, as well as looking at our audience feedback, which helped us to make these decisions. We decided on the bowling alley and arcade for the flashback elements of the video, showing Ryan and Ruby out on their dates, the beach location is also going to be used for this, however we also decided we would get shots of just Ryan on the beach, this is to stick with the convention of isolation, concentrating on this with shots where it is just him. A field is being used at the end of the video, where Ryan is burning the different photos and the teddy. The incinerator is going to be in the field, once again highlighting the isolation Ryan now feels with his lack of relationship. It is also a lot safer to have the incinerator in a field, rather than near building, if it should get out of control.

Props:

To the right you can see the different props we used for our music video. The guitar was the main prop being used, with Ryan playing this frequently. As you can see from our initial ideas powerpoint, we chose not to use all of the props, only choosing the ones which we felt were the most effective, it also saved as money because a lot of the props were being broken or burnt anyway. For example the teddy bear was being burnt in the fire, the love letter being thrown in the sea, and also the tickets and photos were being ripped off the pinboard. All these props will help us to portray and show the viewer Ryan and Rubys relationship, with the climax at the end with all the memories being burnt, forgetting the whole relationship.

Costumes:

To the left you can see the different costumes which the two characters are going to be wearing. I have included pictures of the different clothes which they did actually wear. To get the costume accurately correct we had to ask Ryan and Ruby what different clothes they had, then using this information to create different outifts for them both. For locations such as bowling and the arcade we wanted them to wear something casual and comfy, showing in the flashbacks how comfortable they both are around each other. For the shots on the beach we wanted them to wear something a bit more formal, showing how they out together.
For the lip syncing we then wanted Ryan to look casual, opting for him to wear joggers and a comfy t shirt, we wanted to show the true emotion of the song, not taking away from him playing the guitar and lip syncing to the song. If he was going to wear a smart outfit, it might have taken away from the main element of the video, which is Ryan playing Christain. The different outfits both characters are wearing also show the difference between days, as well as showing the different dates they have gone on.
