Our Lip Syncing Video

Lip synching is something which is used by many different artists. The main reason many artists and bands partake in lip synchronisation is because they sometimes have very vigourous dance routines which require them to lip synch in order to pull off the performance, this mainly happens in live audience situations, such as parades and live television shows.

Lip synchronisation if done properly can look very effective, however sometimes artists can get it wrong and it can look very unproffesional and is also heavily critised by fans, especially when they have paid money to go and see a live performance. An artist which has been critiszed for doing this is Britany spears. Fans were so shocked to see that Spears was lip synching that they sometimes even abandoned her concerts. Because of this the producers of the shows had to start putting disclamers on tickets and posters stating that there could be some lip synching within the shows. This was mainly put down to the vigourous dance routines, meaning that Spears had to solely focus on them at some points during the show.
Other artists who have also had problems when it comes to lip synching are Lindsay Lohan, Ashlee Simpson, Ashley Tisdale and Shakira. To the right you can see a video show some of the top 10 lip synching fails by well known artists who I mentioned above.

When it came to making our own lip synching music we had to make sure that our lip synching looked very effective. We made sure we did that by pronounching our words properly to make our overall video look very effective. I think we achieved this very well, we did this by playing the music in the background whilst filming, this ensured that everyone knew what they were doing and everyone knew what they were singing, it also allowed us to put the correct emphasis on certain words, the same as what Ella Henderson did in the original video. We also decided on settings which portrayed some of the lyrics within the song. These included, a river and a graveyard, which link to the lyrics, luckily we had access to a car, to go to these different locations.
As a group we was a lot more confident with the editing.  This is because in our year 12 coursework we had used the sony vegas pro system and this year we felt a lot more confident with exploring with the use of different filters and other transistions, this was the easy part of our editing, because we decided to many have the use of filters within our work, giving the video an old feel, with darker, more dull colours being used in scenes such as the graveyard, this was to portray a ghostly and sad feel, linking with the name of the song. The hardest part of the editing, was synching the music up with our own footage, however when we had set some a few clips up with the music, we soon found that it was actually quite easy, it just involved a lot of moving the soundtrack around to make sure the lip synching was correct and lined up accurately.
Overall I am very pleased with our final video, however in preparation for next time, I think we need to concentrate on making more of a plan, this is so everyone knows exactly what they are doing throughout the video, so we do not get confused. We also need to make sure we get plenty of different shots such as fillers to make sure our video is not just one continous long clip. However I think this has prepared us well for our main task.
