About Me:
Hi I'm Lucy, and this is my Year 13 Media Studies website, I am looking forward to expanding my Media knowledge and learning more camerawork and editing techniques, which will help me for my exam, and coursework task.
Here are some questions I answered explaining what I enjoyed about Media Studies Year 12:
1) What have you enjoyed the most about year 12 media studies?
Some of the things I enjoyed most about year 12 media, was mainly the planning and filming of my horror film opening. I enjoyed working with my group and coming up with ideas which were effective and something we could carry out to a high standard. I also found the filming very enjoyable because it was a chance to use the different equipment such as the tripods and the video camera. By using this equipment it allowed us to expand our camera skills, and make a better quality, professional looking horror film opening.
2) What has been the least enjoyable part of your course?
I think the least enjoyable part of my course was the section B part of our exam. I found this the least enjoyable because it contained a lot of theory work, and consisted of remembering a lot of facts, from three different films. I found some of the facts very difficult to remember, such as the budget, production companies and who funded the different films. However once I learnt these facts I did find it less challenging.
3) What has been the biggest challenge?
I think the biggest challenge was the editing. I found this the biggest challenge, because it was a programme we had never used before and was something we had to explore through to find different settings which we wanted. It was also a challenge to cut and position all our clips together so they looked professional, whilst editing we did find that it would have been better if we had filmed more shots so that we had more to play around with. This would have made our film opening a lot longer.
4) How did you overcome your challenges?
I overcame my challenges by asking other groups about different parts of the editing software we didnt understand. By doing this it allowed them to show us the different sections of the Sony Vegas pro which we didnt understand, helping us to make a much more professional looking film opening which would portray the horror genre more effectively.
5) What is the most important/interesting skill you've learnt?
I think the most important skill I have learnt is using the editing software effectively, by working out how to use Sony vegas pro properly it will allow us to make an effective music video in year 13. The most interesting skill I learnt was coming up with different camera shots and angles to use to make our horror film opening look a lot more effective, such as high angles and low angles, these were portrayed to make the protagonist look vulnerable and scared compared to the antagonist who was portrayed to look angry and threatening compared to the protagonist.
